Product Details
The baby lock Serenity makes overlock sewing easier, more intuitive, and more comfortable. It opens creative options beyond finishing edges, like decorative hems, elegant trims, and intricate details.
The Serenity automatically adjusts the thread amount needed for each seam, so you can focus on your project. The Overlock Table is included as standard. It lets you use over 20 accessories on your Overlock machine. These accessories were previously reserved for Combination and Cover Stitch machines.
The Baby Lock Serenity is a 2/3/4-thread overlocker built to make serging simpler by cutting out the guesswork with threading and tension settings. If you have ever struggled to thread a serger or adjust tension for different fabrics, this machine handles much of that work for you.
Whether you sew garments, work with stretch fabrics, or want cleaner rolled hems, this overlock machine gives you the control to do it well. The sections ahead cover how the Baby Lock Serenity works, what makes it different from other sergers, and whether it fits your sewing needs.
Core Automation and Threading Features
Serenity’s RevolutionAir air threading pulls thread through loopers with a burst of air: place thread at the point, press “push to thread,” saving time and avoiding tweezers.
Simplified needle and looper threading lets you prepare the sewing machine much faster than older machines.
The Serenity's Automatic Thread Delivery (ATD) system adjusts thread tension for you based on the stitch type you select. You won't need to turn dials or guess at the right tension for each thread.
This removes one of the more frustrating parts of serging. Getting tension wrong can lead to puckered seams or loose stitches, and fixing it by hand often takes several tries. With ATD, you get consistent results whether you're working with thick fabric, thin fabric, or decorative thread.
Changing needles on the Serenity doesn't require tools. The Snap-on Needle System lets you remove and insert needles by hand, so you can swap them out quickly between projects. This feature also applies to the presser foot, which uses the same snap-on design. You can switch feet for different techniques without searching for a screwdriver or losing small parts.
For needle threading, the RevolutionAir system also assists here, cutting down on the fine motor work usually needed to get thread through the needle eye. If you serge regularly, this reduces strain on your hands and saves time you'd otherwise spend on setup.
The Serenity gives you electronic speed control, so you can set your maximum sewing speed with the push of a button. An LED display shows your current speed setting, so you always know how fast the machine is set to run.
You also get a needle positioning button for the needle up/down function. This lets you stop the needle in either the up or down position, which helps when you're pivoting fabric or placing a single stitch with precision.
Stitches, Sitches, and Creative Finishes
You’ll rely on the 4-thread overlock stitch for the majority of garment assembly. It creates a durable seam with integrated stretch, making it an excellent option for knitwear and jersey-style fabrics.
The extra thread adds durability compared to a 3-thread stitch. This matters when you sew seams that get pulled or stretched often, like in sportswear or babywear.
You can also use this stitch to attach elastic to waistbands or cuffs. The differential feed helps keep your fabric flat, so you avoid puckering or stretched-out seams.
The Serenity includes a rolled hem setting for light and sheer fabrics. This gives you a narrow, rolled edge that looks clean on necklines, ruffles, and lightweight hems.
You can switch to this setting without rethreading the whole machine. That saves you time when you move between garment sections that need different finishes.
Rolled edges work well on fabrics like lace, chiffon, or other delicate materials. You get a finished look that holds up without adding bulk.
Flatlocking lets you join two pieces of fabric so they lie flat, with no visible seam allowance. This works well on activewear, sportswear, and other stretch fabrics where comfort matters.
This finish gives you a clean, professional result. It also reduces bulk, which helps in areas where seams rub against skin, like waistbands or underarms.
The Baby Lock Wave Stitch gives you a decorative option that goes beyond basic finishing. Instead of hiding the seam, this stitch turns it into a visible design element.
Use this stitch to add textured, decorative edges, trims, seams, hems, and gathers, especially on simple garments where extra detail and standout finishing are desired.
Workspace and Accessories
The patented Compact Overlock Table gives you a stable, extended surface for detailed work. It fits directly onto the Serenity without taking up much extra space in your sewing room.
This table works with a range of overlock accessories and coverstitch accessories. You can attach specialty feet and guides to create rolled hems, piping, and other decorative details.
Because the table is compact, it suits both small sewing spaces and larger studio setups. You get added workspace without permanently changing your machine's footprint.
The Serenity includes a knee lever, which lifts the presser foot without using your hands. This lets you keep both hands on your fabric while sewing curves, corners, or multiple layers.
The Drop Feed System works with automatic feed dog lowering to give you more control over fabric placement. This is useful when you're working with slippery or delicate materials that shift easily.
Together, these features reduce the need to stop and adjust fabric mid-seam. You can focus on guiding the material instead of managing the machine.
This setup is especially helpful for garment sewing, where precise seam placement matters. It also speeds up repetitive tasks like hemming multiple pieces.
