Bernina L 660 Overlocker

The One-Step BERNINA Air Threader uses compressed air to thread both looper threads automatically. You operate it using the foot control, which keeps both hands free to position the thread over the threader nozzles. An integrated light illuminates whilst the air threader is activated, showing you the operating status clearly.

An air-powered threading system quickly pulls thread through looper paths, eliminating manual threading through tight spaces.

The illuminated feature is very useful in low light or when using dark thread colours that are hard to see.

The built-in needle threader sits at the needle bar area and switches easily to thread both needles. Unlike the air threading system for loopers, this is a mechanical threader that you operate manually. It provides consistent results across different thread weights and types.

The L 660 has colour-coded, fixed one-path threading, making it easy to place threads correctly for any stitch.

This system reduces threading errors and makes it straightforward to rethread when changing colours or thread types. The threading paths are marked directly on the machine body for easy reference.

The L 660 magnetic looper cover protects the threading area. It also works as a magnetic holder for small metal tools.

A magnetic, adaptable sewing tool cover keeps essentials organised, prevents loss, and enables quick one-handed attachment or removal.

The BERNINA Free Hand System gives you hands-free control over the presser foot through a knee lifter. You can raise or lower the presser foot with your knee, keeping both hands free to position and guide your fabric accurately.

Using the knee lever lifts the presser foot and drops the feed dog, creating space for thick layers. This hands-free feature aids repositioning bulky or slippery projects; it doesn’t work with the hand lifter.

The swing-out presser foot moves to the left when raised, providing generous access to the threading area and needle zone. This design makes threading considerably easier and speeds up needle changes.

Swing-out presser foot improves visibility and space for threading, returning automatically when lowered. Two-step lift provides standard clearance or extra height for thick fabrics and easy removal.

The BERNINA foot control offers programmable options that adapt to your preferred sewing style. You can programme whether the needle stops in the up or down position when you finish sewing. Setting the needle to stop down helps keep your project steady under the foot. Stopping in the up position makes it easier to remove your work.

Foot control heel press raises/lowers the needle for precise fabric positioning. A speed slider limits maximum sewing speed from 1200 stitches/min, helping with detailed work and learning.

The slide-on table extends your workspace to the right of the needle, giving you better support for large or heavy projects. The table attaches securely to the machine and provides a stable, level surface.

The L 660 offers a spacious, compact sewing area that reduces fabric drag for even feeding. It also has a bright, adjustable, dimmable light for better visibility.

The L660 offers multiple stitch types for different fabric weights and project requirements. You get 4-thread overlock with integrated safety seam for sturdy, elastic seams in knits and stretchy fabrics.

The machine includes wide and narrow 3-thread overlock options. Wide versions suit strong woven fabrics and pile materials. Narrow stitches work better for fine to medium-weight fabrics.

Rolled hem capabilities include both 3-thread and 2-thread versions for attractive edge finishes on lightweight fabrics. The 3-thread rolled hem creates decorative edges quickly, perfect for accessories and ruffles. For flat seams, you can select wide or narrow flatlock stitches in either 2-thread or 3-thread configurations.

A reversible 2-thread wrapped overlock offers wide/narrow options, adjustable 3–9mm width, and quick switching via an upper looper converter.

The standard presser foot swings out to the left, providing space for threading and needle changes. It automatically swings back when you lower it with the hand lifter. This basic foot handles most overlock tasks across different fabric weights.

An overlock foot with tape guide smoothly aligns and attaches decorative tape, elastic, or ribbon while overlocking seams.

You can adjust presser foot pressure for thin or thick fabrics through the front panel controls. This customisation ensures even feeding regardless of material thickness.
