The BERNINA Free Hand System lets you raise the presser foot using a knee lever instead of your hands. This keeps both hands free to position and guide your fabric precisely.

Using the knee lifter raises the presser foot and automatically drops the feed dog, creating space for thick or layered fabrics. Releasing it restores both, enabling hands-free repositioning, pivoting, and better control without stopping and restarting.

The swing-out presser foot moves to the left to create space for threading and needle changes. This design gives you better access to the needle area without removing the presser foot entirely.

Auto swing-back presser foot returns to position when lowered. Two-step lift provides standard clearance or extra height for thick or layered fabrics, improving flexibility across fabric weights.

BERNINA foot control runs the machine and air threader, adjusts sewing speed precisely, enables stitch-by-stitch control, and trims threads automatically with a heel back-kick for faster workflow.
