Product Details
The Janome HD9 QC Professional is a high-speed, straight-stitch sewing machine built for demanding sewing and quilting work. You get up to 1,650 stitches per minute. It has a 9-inch workspace and heavy-duty construction. It serves projects that need steady, accurate stitching.
You can use it for quilts, bags, home décor, denim, canvas, and other thick materials. Its large bobbin, thread-handling features, and smooth feed system can help you keep projects moving with fewer stops.

Fabric, Thread, and Feed Control
You can sew denim, canvas, and leather with the HD9 QC Professional. It uses a straight-stitch design and a heavy-duty build. Its Heavy Weight Thread Guide supports thicker thread used for visible seams, bag making, home décor, and leather crafts.
Use the guide for heavy topstitching threads to smooth thread travel before tension. The machine has industrial-style pretension, but test and adjust tension per thread, needle, fabric thickness, and layers.
Adjust foot pressure to suit fabric: increase for firm materials, decrease for soft or thick layers to prevent crushing.
The presser foot height indicator lets you confirm foot position for sewing bulky, layered, or thick materials.
The HD9 QC Professional has a floating function that slightly raises the presser foot while sewing.
A small gap reduces drag on thick, uneven fabrics when sewing, but excessive lift can reduce fabric control.
Lower feed dogs for free-motion quilting; guide fabric manually, controlling stitch length. Support quilt on a large table, sew at moderate speed with small movements. Raise feed dogs afterward for normal stitching.
Speed, Bobbin, and Workflow Convenience
The HD9 QC Professional can sew up to 1,650 stitches per minute, and its speed slider lets you limit maximum speed. Variable speed control improves sewing precision in corners, seams, and thick layers by allowing slower, more controlled stitching.
The needle up/down button sets the needle’s stopping position, aiding pivoting and repositioning fabric without shifting seams. The needle-up stop and built-in needle threader let you remove fabric quickly and reduce thread-change setup time.
The machine uses a side-loading jumbo bobbin and bobbin case. The jumbo bobbin holds about 1.4 times more thread than a standard bobbin, so you can sew longer seams before stopping to reload.
Access the bobbin from the machine’s side, insert it correctly, and thread it through the bobbin case tension path.
The HD9 QC Professional has a separate bobbin winder. It fills bobbins while you sew. This helps with long projects and colour changes.
An automatic thread cutter trims needle and bobbin threads at the seam’s end via a machine button or remote control. The feature speeds repeated sewing and creates shorter thread tails than scissors, though some threads may need longer tails.
Reverse stitch to secure seam starts and ends, especially on bag straps and other stress-prone seams. In quilting, you can skip reverse stitching and instead cut and secure thread ends according to your method.
Core Performance and Machine Design
The HD9 QC Professional makes one stitch type: a straight stitch. This focused design suits work where clean seam lines, topstitching, and controlled fabric feeding matter more than decorative stitch options.
Maximum speed is 1,650 stitches per minute, with adjustable speeds for detailed work or fast stitching on long seams.
The machine handles light and heavy fabrics by adjusting the needle, thread, and tension. It also uses a heavy-thread guide for topstitching.
The side-loading jumbo bobbin holds about 40% more thread than a standard bobbin. This can reduce stops during long seams and large projects.
Janome HD9 QC Professional has a die-cast aluminium frame for steady sewing at high speeds. It also has eight enclosed ball bearings for smooth, long-lasting shaft movement and consistent sewing.
Flat-bed, heavy-duty domestic machine offers a stable surface and strong straight-stitch power. It supports layered sewing near the needle. Use the correct needle size. Do not force excessively thick layers.
The HD9 QC Professional offers a nine-inch workspace right of the needle. This gives extra room for bulky fabrics and large projects. It supports the material and helps guide long seams.
A flat bed helps press seams and align layers, but large quilts may still require an extension table or extra support.
A wider workspace does not replace careful fabric handling. Keep the project supported at the same height as the machine bed to reduce pulling and help maintain even stitches.
Quilting Features and Included Accessories
Lower the feed dogs and use a free-motion quilting foot to move the quilt freely and control stitches manually.
Use slower speed initially and support the quilt on a wide table to prevent weight pulling against the needle.
The ditch quilting foot guides stitching beside or in seams, helping quilt accurately around blocks, borders, and patchwork.
For best results, use a straight-stitch needle plate and a suitable quilting needle. Test the thread tension on a layered fabric sample before quilting the finished project.
The extra-wide table gives you more support for quilts, table runners, and other large pieces. It reduces the amount of fabric hanging off the machine bed, which helps you guide layers more evenly.
A knee lifter lets you raise or lower the presser foot hands-free for easier pivoting and faster quilting or piecing.
A cloth guide attaches to a machine foot to maintain consistent spacing for quilting, seam allowances, and topstitching.
The standard straight stitch foot supports accurate piecing and general sewing. Its narrow opening helps hold lightweight fabrics and quilt blocks flat near the needle.
Use an even feed foot to prevent shifting in thick layers, and a rolled hem foot to sew narrow hems on light fabrics.
Match the presser foot to the task, verify needle position, and test on scrap fabric before sewing your project.
